The distance check on arrival
GardyProp checks you are at the property — and your business decides whether that blocks anything.
Before you start
When a visit starts, GardyProp compares the phone's position with the property's map pin.
Step by step
- Tap a stop to start the visit.
- The phone is asked for its position and the distance is shown.
- Either it proceeds, or — if your business has set it that way — it asks you to confirm.
Settings → Field App holds two things: whether the check blocks the start, and from how many metres not at the property begins. Blocking is off by default.
Good to know
The check informs by default rather than blocking, and that is deliberate. A technician who genuinely is at the pool and cannot start work because of a satellite is worse off than a wrong record.
Two situations make the measurement meaningless, and both are recognised:
- Too imprecise. The phone reports its own margin of error. If that margin is larger than your threshold, the measurement decides nothing.
- Jammed. In Limassol, RAF Akrotiri jams GPS. The phone then reports Beirut — around 200 km away — without reporting any error at all. So "no signal" is not enough of an exception: the device gives a position, it is just wrong. Anything beyond 30 km is treated as interference, not as a location. Thirty kilometres is far beyond any real wrong turn on a route and far below what a jammed signal produces.
What it does not do
It does not track anyone. The position is asked for at the moment a visit starts and is not followed afterwards.
It cannot tell a technician standing at the gate from one standing at the neighbour's gate. It answers roughly here or definitely not here.
