The technician's day
Today's route on the phone, with the right stop at the top when you arrive.
Before you start
The technician's app is a web page, not something to install. It shows the route assigned to that person — or to their team — for today.
Step by step
- Sign in on the phone. Today's route opens.
- Each stop shows the customer, the property and its state.
- Keep the list open while you drive. On arrival, the nearest open stop moves to the top and is highlighted.
- Tap it to start the visit.
Good to know
Why the list has to stay open: a browser gives a web page no position in the background. Neither iOS nor Android wakes a page up when the position changes. So there is no notification when you arrive — but if the list is open, the right stop is at the top by the time you have parked.
Position tracking stops when the screen is off or the page is hidden. Otherwise the GPS runs all day for nothing and the battery is flat by lunchtime.
Done and skipped both look finished, because in both cases there is nothing left to do at that stop.
What it does not do
There is no offline mode. Without a connection the list cannot be loaded, although a visit already in progress keeps its draft.
It does not track the van. Nothing is recorded about where the technician is except what they confirm at a stop.
