Putting a work order into a route

A job with a date is still not a stop until somebody drives to it.

Before you start

A work order says what needs doing. A route says when somebody drives there. The second does not follow from the first.

Step by step

  1. Open the route for the day.
  2. Open the pool list and pull the work order in as a stop.
  3. It appears in the technician's day alongside the normal service stops.

Good to know

Why it is a separate step: a work order can sit for three weeks waiting for a part. Automatically putting it on a route the moment it gets a date would fill days with jobs nobody planned to drive to.

A work order stop is not a service visit. The technician sees the description of the job, not the standard checklist for a routine service.

Optimising takes it into account. Once it is a stop, it is a point on the map like any other.

What it does not do

Completing the stop does not close the work order. Its status is only changed from the work order list, so mark it done there.

A work order in a repeating route would repeat with it. Put one-off jobs in a dated route, not a series.
