Annual running costs per vehicle

Everything except fuel, once a year, divided by twelve.

Before you start

Insurance, road tax, servicing, tyres, depreciation, leasing. Everything a vehicle costs whether it moves or not.

Step by step

  1. Open the vehicle.
  2. Enter the annual cost — one figure, everything except fuel.
  3. Save.

GardyProp divides by twelve and uses the monthly share for the period you are looking at.

Good to know

Fuel is deliberately not in here. Fuel varies with distance; everything else does not. Mixing them would make the cost per kilometre move for two unrelated reasons at once — see the fuel log.

One figure, not a list of items. Nobody keeps a leasing rate up to date in two systems. What matters for the calculation is the total.

Update it once a year. An annual cost from 2024 on a van whose insurance has since risen makes every kilometre look too cheap.

What it does not do

It does not derive anything from receipts. There is no expense capture — it is a figure you enter.

It is not apportioned by usage. A van standing still all November still carries its twelfth.
