Real road kilometres

A straight line between two villas on the Akamas is meaningless — the road goes round the hill. GardyProp asks a routing service for the actual road distance and the actual driving time.

Step by step

There is nothing to switch on. Whenever a route has stops with map pins, the distance and time shown come from the road network.

Good to know

This is why the map pin matters. Distances are measured between points, not between address texts. A stop without a pin cannot be measured and does not count towards the total.

If the routing service cannot be reached, GardyProp falls back to straight-line distance and orders the stops nearest-first. The number is then too small — a straight line is always shorter than a road. It is a usable order, not an accurate figure.

Driving time is free-flow. It is what the road network says, not what the Limassol coast road does at eight in the morning.

What it does not do

Traffic, road closures and ferry times are not taken into account. Neither is the time spent at each pool — the driving time is driving only.

The kilometres shown for a planned route are an estimate. What a vehicle actually drove comes from its odometer, not from here.
