Items, packs and the price per unit

An item in the stock module is a product you buy in packs and use in grams, millilitres or tablets. GardyProp keeps both, so you can shop in packs and calculate in units.

Step by step

1. Open Stock and press New item.
2. Give it a name and a unit — g, ml, tablets, pieces.
3. Enter the pack size: how much is in one canister, bucket or tin.
4. Enter the pack price, and say whether you typed it net or gross.
5. Save. The price per unit appears next to it.

Good to know

You type one side, GardyProp stores four. Pack price net and gross, and price per unit net and gross. All four come from the one number you typed and your VAT rate, so they cannot disagree with each other.

The price per unit is not rounded. 40 EUR for 25 kg is 0.0016 EUR per gram. Rounded to two decimals that would be 0.00, and every material cost would come out as nothing. Only the pack price is rounded, because that is how it appears on an invoice.

Say which side you typed. A supplier invoice may quote net or gross. Getting it wrong is a 19 % error that runs quietly into every margin.

What it does not do

There is no supplier catalogue and no price list per supplier. One item carries one current price.

Changing a price does not rewrite the past. Every visit keeps the material cost that applied on the day — see use at the pool.
